How to use this worksheet: This Work Breakdown Structure follows the PMBOK process group format: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitor & Control, and Closure. Each process step is divided into subtasks, with an assigned resource, an estimated level of effort (in days), and a sequential numbering value for your scheduling tool. The sample data below illustrates a broadcast systems commissioning project. Edit it or use the + Add buttons to adapt this template to your own project.
- PMBOK Criteria: the project-management phase a step belongs to (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitor & Control, Closure).
- Resource Required: the role responsible for the subtask (e.g., Project Manager, Field Engineer, System Designer).
- Est. Level of Effort: the estimated hands-on work, in days, to complete the subtask.
- Numbering: a sequential reference number for importing this WBS into a scheduling tool (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet).
